Chisseaux to Amboise Head west along the Cher Valley through the delightful riverside towns of Blere and Athee?sur?Cher. Take the time to visit the 16th Century Chateau de Nitray with its beautiful gardens and winetasting opportunities before heading on to the lively town of Amboise. The town still retains it's mediaeval feel and has plenty of quaint cafes and bars to enjoy a drink before dinner. Cycle approx. 39km.
Free day in Amboise. Today is free to enjoy all that Amboise has to offer. Visit the chateau and Leonardo da Vinci's final residence, Le Clos Luce. On Fridays and Sundays there are local food markets you can visit, or take a walk along the river for numerous photo opportunities.
The route starts following the Cisse and continues on to Monteaux before arriving in Chaumont with time to explore the chateau and its gardens. The chateau contains some very interesting history it was once acquired by Catherine de Medici in the 16th Century, but when her husband Henry II died in 1559 she forced his mistress Diane de Poiters to exchange Chateau de Chaumont for Chateau de Chenonceau which Henry had given to de Poitiers. The whole thing is now a museum and you can enjoy wandering round the exquisite property and its beautifully maintained gardens. Cycle approx. 38km.
Your route takes you through the pretty village of Les Montils before heading to the Chateau de Beauregard. You then follow a loop around CourCheverny to take in the Chateau de Cheverny and Chateau de Troussay. Cycle approx. 26km.
Free day in Cour Cheverny or optional ride. Enjoy a day around Cheverny, which is crisscrossed with quiet country lanes, and green, easy to follow 'chateau a velo' routes. We provide routes to visit Chateau de Beauregard, and Chateau de Villesavin, but there are many other routes you can follow if you wish. Cycle approx. 36km.
Head south back to the River Cher through vineyards and sunflower fields. Head through Thenay and Montrichard before arriving at the spectacular Chateau de Chenonceau the most romantic and beautiful of all the Renaissance chateaux. Then ride back to your hotel in Chisseaux. Cycle approx. 41km.
