Q&A: Beach Bliss & Hotel Luxe in Bali

9th August 2015

Sally Morgan recently returned from a relaxing break in tropical Bali, where she discovered a love for the island, the people and the many creature comforts on its sultry shores. Indulging in the spas and cuisine, kicking back on the sand and lapping up the luxuries of her hotel were a top priority. Here, she shares a little insight into what made her Bali holiday so special.

Why did you choose Bali as your holiday destination?

Because of the beautiful culture, friendly people, stunning resorts, tropical weather, delicious food and proximity to Australia.

Where did you stay and why?

We stayed at The Haven Seminyak because we’d heard great reports about it. It certainly didn't disappoint.

What were the most memorable aspects of your hotel?

Definitely the rooms and the fabulous location. The resort caters to all types of travellers and they have done this well by splitting the resort in two. The front section is where the hotel rooms are and caters to those who are out and about soaking up the best of Seminyak or relaxing and lying by the pool.

The back half of the resort is where all the larger rooms with huge kitchen dining areas are, and also the great villas. It’s great because both sections have their own pool as well as two separate restaurants. We loved the breakfast in the back restaurant which was exclusive to us, as that’s where we were staying.

What attractions were nearby?

The beach was only a five minute walk away and so convenient. The hotel has its own beach club too where you can get the hotel shuttle to the deck chairs right on the beach and enjoy a drink or two. We were also located right on the shopping strip of Seminyak. We loved being able to go out in the morning and wander the shops then come back for lunch and relaxy the pool all afternoon.

What were your most exciting and relaxing Bali experiences?

Most exciting was working our way through the endless world-class restaurants on offer in Seminyak. The food and restaurants are outstanding. While there are cheaper eats, you have to dine out at a more extravagant restaurant at least once during your stay. The most relaxing experiences where by far the endless world-class spas we enjoyed. Massages, manicures and pedicures are so easy to find and so good. It makes for the perfect blend.

Do you have any memorable, funny or random stories to share?

The endless humour of the spirited Balinese people. There were so many funny conversations and laughs shared with hotel staff, taxi drivers, waiters and so on.

What do you wish you did but maybe didn’t get time for?

I would have loved to do a trip out to the Gili Islands. I’ve heard it’s well worth it.
