Family Friendly Fun
The kids are bound to love cooling off at Sun City, with two awesome water parks to choose from. The Valley of Waves has awesome water slides and palm-fringed white sandy beaches, while Waterworld is a man-made lake perfect for tube rides, bumper boats, waterskiing, parasailing, jet skiing and beautiful sunset cruises. Once you’ve dried off you can get up close to the animals at Animal World and the Bird Sanctuary, or come face to face with crocodiles at Kwena Gardens. There’s also an Entertainment Centre decked out with arcade games, two cinemas with the latest movies, mini-quad biking, mini-golf, a treasure hunt, a maze and plenty of sporting facilities to keep everyone entertained.
Thanks to the supervised kids’ clubs and day and night babysitting service, it’s easy to slip out for your own bit of fun. Indulge in a romantic meal at one of the award-winning restaurants, offering a range of cuisines from traditional South African to Italian and Asian. Then try your luck in the glamorous Sun City Casino - one of the biggest casinos in Africa! There are fantastic live music shows and colourful performances in custom-built venues, as well as a nightclub and plenty of bars and lounges. Come daytime and there are two world-famous golf courses to play on, including the Gary Player Country Club, which is home to the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Perched right on the edge of Pilanesberg National Game Park, safari adventures are a must-do attraction while you’re at Sun City. Home to the Big Five (lion, African elephant, cape buffalo, rhinoceros and leopard) as well as tonnes of other incredible African wildlife, you’ll also love that the park is malaria-free. Join a game drive, track the animals from a hot air balloon at sunrise, explore on foot with a ranger-guided hike, or take the journey on the back of a horse or elephant. Then at the end of the day, don’t miss the sight at Elephant Wallow, where the animals come to drink from the waterhole.
Sun City offers four styles of accommodation so every family can afford a piece of the action. The film set for Blended was The Palace of the Lost City, which offers the most opulence and extravagance. Set amongst landscaped jungles and waterfalls, with beautiful frescoes, mosaics and fountains, it also has its own private tropical beach cove and intricately decorated Grand Pool. Here you can expect to feel like African royalty. The Cascades Hotel also has beautiful cascading waterways and tropical surroundings, with brilliant restaurants and three pools – including a tanning island and one dedicated to kids. Sun City Hotel is the original hotel set overlooking one of the golf courses, with its own glorious pool and spa, top restaurants, a cabaret theatre and casino. Worried about the back pocket? The Cabanas is the budget-friendly and family-friendly option, close to all the children’s attractions and boasting restaurants that keep families in mind.
