Top Reasons for an Aussie Break

1st May 2014

There’s no need to travel halfway round the world to have an amazing family holiday. Australia has endless destinations to suit any budget. Domestic holidays have many advantages, including shorter travel times, food you know the kids will eat, a language that everyone understands and weather you can rely on. Here are our favourite reasons why an Aussie holiday is hard to beat.

Beach family

World class beaches
Australia is blessed with beautiful beaches and an enviable climate. In our own backyard, we have top notch beaches that are the perfect playground for kids and teens. Many families enjoy a sunny holiday in Queensland where they can head to the Gold Coast or to the pristine islands of the Whitsundays. New South Wales is also a sought after destination for sun seekers, home to the unspoilt shores of Lord Howe Island and the relaxed beach town Byron Bay. Kangaroo Island in South Australia is a nature lover’s paradise while the sun drenched shores of Cable Beach in Broome are also popular.

Family friendly adventures
Australia offers a huge variety of family friendly adventures, from camel rides in the Northern Territory to snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef. Go zip lining in the rainforest of Tasmania, trekking in the Blue Mountains, climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge or venture on a family skiing adventure at Thredbo or Perisher Blue in winter.

Pet friendly holidays
If you’re a pet owner, you know it can be hard and expensive to leave your furry loved one behind while you go away. However, if you are travelling locally or going on a road trip, your pet can join you on your adventure. There are a number of pet-friendly properties in Australia, so even your four legged friend can enjoy a change of scenery. Taking your pet on holiday is also a great way to encourage the kids to get outside and explore the great outdoors.

Sightseeing attractions
Many visitors to Australia travel far to see the sights of our sunburnt land, but we have the privilege of experiencing our country's best every single day. From the thriving theme parks on the Gold Coast to the coral coves of the Great Barrier Reef, there is so much to do and see. Take the kids to experience the spectacular Sydney Harbour or discover the majestic beauty of Ayers Rock.

Room for More
Perhaps one of the biggest advantages of domestic holidays is that Grandma and Grandad can come too as well as aunties, uncles and cousins. Holiday houses come in lots of sizes, so you could all end up under the same roof. It’s a great chance to reconnect with your wider family in a fun and relaxed setting. After all, the more the merrier. The kids can keep each other entertained, or you can have the freedom to split up and enjoy different activities.
