Proudly presented by Escape Travel, the Surfers Paradise Festival is back for its fifth year this April. A premier beachfront event, the festival showcases local talent alongside national and international artists. Complete with vibrant street performers, fireworks, musical acts and food stalls, the Surfers Paradise Festival is perfect for the whole family.
From 2 – 26 April 2014, the Gold Coast will burst to life with amazing events celebrating music, art, food and culture. One of the highlights will be the opening Street Parade. Community groups, school children, marching bands and acrobats will make their way through the streets of Surfers Paradise, lanterns in hand. The parade will finish with a dazzling fireworks display over Surfers Paradise Beach.
The fun will continue with the Launch It! Beach Concert featuring three days of musical performances right on the shores of Surfers Paradise Beach. The concert will star national and international artists, including Jon Stevens, Daryl Braithwaite and James Reyne.
A new addition to the Surfers Paradise Festival is the Surf, Seafood and Symphony. The Cavill Mall and the Surfers Paradise foreshore will be filled with food stalls from local traders selling sumptuous seafood and international delights. The finishing touch will be a wonderful performance by a symphony orchestra on the beach with special guest stars from Australia’s stage and screen.
Kids will be captivated by the energetic and creative performances at the Australian Street Entertainment Championships. The festivities will feature four days of fun with clowns, mimes, jugglers and dancers.
The SeaFire Fireworks Challenge is always a crowd pleaser. This heart pounding event will see teams of the country’s best pyro-technicians face off at Surfers Paradise Beach. Watch in awe as cutting edge fireworks erupt, while fire twirlers from the Phoenix Fire Tribe perform with fire sticks and flaming pois.
The Surfers Paradise Festival will finish with a trendy One Way Street Party. Expect to see indie bands, live art projects, streets markets and vintage fashions as you catch a glimpse of the Gold Coast’s emerging cultural scene. In the evening, Shorts in Paradise Film Festival will broadcast short films from some of Australia’s emerging directors.
Make the most of this amazing annual event and plan your Gold Coast getaway in April. Be a part of the festivities and get down to Surfers Paradise, even just for a weekend away.
