Memories of a Balinese Adventure

16th October 2013

Escape Travel Consultant Stefanie Kellock, recently returned from a holiday to beautiful Bali. Splitting her time between the Bali Mandira Beach Resort and Spa in Legian and the Patra Jasa Resort and Villas in South Kuta, Stefanie was keen to share the highlights of her adventures.

When asked what the most exciting part of her trip was, Stefanie shared of her time with the local animals.

“It would have to be visiting the Elephant Safari Park Lodge. We had an up close and personal visit with the elephants, learning about their lives, while watching them feed and take a bath. In the evening we went for a magical elephant trek through the jungle canopy. The sky was clear with fire flies floating all around,” said Stefanie.

“The guides were very friendly, pointing out different plants and animals throughout the trek. Afterwards, we feasted on fresh seafood, beautiful local produce and delicious cocktails under the stars whilst the elephants had their evening meal.”

One of the most memorable experiences of Stefanie’s holiday was a visit to the Bali Kids Orphanage. Taking along gifts to share with the children, Stefanie remembers fondly the kid’s enthusiasm for visitors.

“The children were so excited for us to visit. We brought some supplies like toothbrushes and shampoo, along with more fun things like crayons and notebooks. The children drew drawings of us all – some of their interpretations on paper were hilarious!” said Stefanie.

Making the most of Bali’s tropical weather, Stefanie spent time exploring the pristine waters with a cruise to one of the local islands.

“Just a short one and a half hour cruise to the Lembongan Island and it was time to unwind! The pool was fabulous, not to mention the beautiful beach where we could snorkel and explore the surrounding reef. Lunch was served at leisure, a fantastic spread of salads, barbeque skewers and fresh fruit. We had a full day on the island and enjoyed a few Bintang’s on the cruise back to the mainland. A perfect day!” shared Stefanie.

The shopping in Bali was also a highlight, with so much to see and explore. Stefanie recommends the shopping in Kuta and also the wholesalers in Seminyak.

“Homewares, gorgeous clothing, jewellery – there really is something for everyone,” said Stefanie.

Using traditional Balinese design, Stefanie was impressed with the perfectly manicured gardens at the Bali Mandira Resort. The elevated infinity pool overlooks the ocean and there is a kid’s pool complete with water hammocks and a waterslide. Stefanie recommended hanging by the brightly lit pool at night for a wind down cocktail.

Conveniently located just minutes from the airport, the Patra Jasa Resort is also set within immaculate surrounds. It has a variety of rooms to choose from including villas for families and a fantastic onsite kids club. Stefanie suggested the pool as the prime spot to watch the sunset over the ocean on your last day in paradise.

After completing her one week adventure, Stefanie remains eager to return to Bali.

“Bali is amazing! There is something for everyone. The Balinese people are so kind and hospitable - I didn’t want to leave! I can’t wait to go back,” said Stefanie.
