Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park
One of the most popular tourist attractions in Vancouver is the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park. Showcasing vibrant green rainforest, this twenty seven acre park has plenty of activities for all ages. You can walk the Suspension Bridge, stretched 137 metres across and 70 metres above the Capilano River. The brave can venture onto the adrenaline pumping Cliffwalk or the whole family can enjoy the Treetops Adventure. Traditionally known for its excellent skiing conditions, Grouse Mountain is worth a visit in either summer or winter. During the colder months, Grouse Mountain is covered in snow and makes for a very accessible ski field - only forty minutes from downtown Vancouver. In summer, your family can enjoy the skyride up the mountain for spectacular city views. The mountain also has a number of activities for families to enjoy in the warmer months, including a visit to see the resident bears Coolah and Grinder.
Bordering downtown Vancouver is the stunning Stanley Park. Set right on the harbour, this popular park offers picturesque views with majestic trees, flourishing gardens, shimmering lakes, all surrounded by snow capped mountains. Hire bikes and go for a family ride with a number of trails to explore. Be sure to take the camera as you will see beautiful Canadian scenery and keep your eye out for mischievous squirrels too. Right in the middle of Stanley Park is the Vancouver Aquarium, home to over 50,000 animals from around the world. Kids will love spending a day exploring the exhibits and seeing the entertaining animal shows. See the rare white belly dolphins do incredible leaps at amazing speed with the acrobatic Dolphin Show. Visit the unusual beluga whale and stop by Penguin Point to see the African penguins. One of the main attractions is the Sharks and Rays exhibit and be sure to walk through the Amazon Gallery with free flying birds, butterflies and even sloths snoozing in the trees.
For a family day out, take the ferry over to Granville Island to explore the amazing Granville Markets. Be sure to bring your appetite as you will be exposed to an array of fresh seafood, gourmet treats, baked goods, homemade preserves and more. These markets are surrounded by a number of unique shops include a fantastic kids toy store. The Kids Market has over thirty shops just for little ones with a play area and even a small water park.
