New York
The New York Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival is without doubt the biggest and most famous Easter parade in the United States. Tens of thousands of people gather to show off their fabulous Easter hats from the cute and colourful to the downright outrageous. Expect to see participants in their most festive spring gear as the best of the bonnets are showcased along Fifth Avenue. There are fun activities for the whole family, though most of your time will be spent staring at the quirky costumes and wacky bonnets. Stake out a spot near St Patricks Cathedral for the best view of the parade.

San Francisco
Not one to miss out on a celebration, San Francisco hosts its own Union Street Celebration and Easter Parade on Easter Sunday. This annual festival is designed for the whole family. Take the kids down to Union Square, where you will be greeted by costumed characters with entertainment from some of the Bay Area’s best musicians. Kids can enjoy jumping castles, rides, games, a petting zoo and even pony rides. Stick around for the Easter parade in the afternoon with spectacular self propelled mini floats and bring along your most colourful and creative Easter hat for the bonnet contest.

The long legacy of St Augustine is celebrated in Florida at the annual St Augustine Easter Parade. With marching bands, drill teams, clowns and colourful decorated floats, this Easter parade is a festive and entertaining event. One unique feature is the handmade hats that are worn by the horses, with famous celebrities donating hats for the parade through the years. Dress in your Easter best and compete for fun prizes. If you bring along your family pet, make sure he or she is also wearing an Easter costume.

More than 25,000 people gather to celebrate the Easter on Parade event in Richmond, Virginia each year. As you dress in your most festive Easter outfits, you can expect music, arts, crafts, balloon artistry, food and a petting zoo. Enjoy watching the eclectic mix of costumes as the participant’s parade down Monument Avenue, with the highlight of the event being the Pet Bonnet and People Bonnet Showcases.

New Jersey is home to a few different Easter parades but the most popular is the Easter in the Park event at Memorial Park, Van Neste Square. Dress in your finest spring outfits and join the fun with family entertainment, arts, crafts and live music. Stay after the parade so your kids can have the chance to meet and take a photo with the Easter bunny.
