With a bowl of popcorn in one hand and the remote control in the other, it’s time to watch in awe as all the beautiful people present their best frocks at the Academy Awards. The celebrities will gather this weekend in Hollywood to toast the new Oscar winners for 2013. Whilst we can dream about one day attending this glamorous event, taking a holiday to Hollywood can certainly be a reality.

In honour of the Academy Awards, here are our top 5 family attractions in Hollywood.

Hollywood Hollywood, Los Angeles

Dolby Theatre
The Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard is home to the prestigious Academy Awards. This entertainment centre hosts numerous events throughout the year including live concerts, movie premieres and performances. Take a guided tour of the theatre any day of the week and gain behind the scenes insight to the grand architecture and history of this world renowned venue.

Hollywood Wax Museum
See all your favourite stars at the Hollywood Wax Museum. Dedicated solely to celebrities, this museum is the longest running wax museum in the United States. You’ll be sure to see life like statues of Halle Berry, Ben Affleck, Angeline Jolie, Matthew McConaughey and many more. Make sure you take your camera so you can take a photo with your arm around your favourite star.

TCL Chinese Theatre
Take the kids to catch a movie at the TCL Chinese Theatre, located on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This theatre hosts a number of movie premieres every year and is where many famous Hollywood stars have watched their own movies. Take a guided tour any day of the week and learn more about Hollywood movie history and this iconic theatre.

You can’t go to Hollywood without visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame. See all the stars embedded in the sidewalks, dedicated to achievers in the entertainment industry including actors, musicians, directors, producers and more. There are over 2400 stars, each weighing about 136kg, spread out across eighteen blocks. Take the kids to see unique displays of the world’s most unusual, genuine artifacts including the eight foot tall Bumblebee Autobot Transformer model from the Transformer movies.
