As a winter wonderland, Sapporo on Japan’s northern island, was firmly put on the map when it hosted the winter Olympics in 1972. The Club Med resort was opened in 1987 and offers a fantastic spa to sooth muscles after a solid day's skiing. The facilities on the slopes include eight lifts and a variety of downhill runs that cater to all levels of ski experience. The kids are also well looked after with dedicated children clubs broken into various age groups.
Chamonix Mont-Blanc, France
The Chamonix Mont-Blanc resort is situated less than five minutes from the heart of Chamonix and comprises of three adjoining buildings. The Savoy is the principle hotel, with Mont Blanc as the secondary complex and The Brévent as the newest addition to the ensemble. During summer this is a great region for rock climbing and hiking – however the real treat is winter when powder-like snow covers the mountains in spectacular fashion.
