The golden jewel in the radiant crown of the Gold Coast is Surfers Paradise – a popular beach that provides the perfect setting to just chill and unwind. While lazing about on the sand and swimming in the warm waters are popular pastimes for travellers to Surfers, here at Escape Travel we thought we’d highlight interesting ways to admire the beauty of the beach.
Here are our top five ways to admire Surfers Paradise.
The Observation Deck at Q1
The tallest building in Australia, when including all architectural features, is the iconic Q1. Take the lift to the observation deck for the incredible views right along the Gold Coast – you can generally see from Coolangatta in the south right up to South Stradbroke Island. The adventurous will also sign up for the Skypoint Climb, which takes you outside the building up to the base of the spire.
From the Water
It’s quite a sight to swim out to a safe distance and look back towards the land to appreciate the beautiful stretch of sand backed by the skyscrapers flanking the beach. If you have a water-proof camera, take it with you to capture the image for posterity.
Engage the assistance of a pilot and take a scenic flight over the region. Tiger Moth Joy Rides offers the trip in a vintage plane and in between the dare-devil flips you’ll spot Sea World, Q1, the hinterland and of course the iconic beach. Alternatively jump into a hot air balloon and watch the sunrise over this magnificent coastline.
The boardwalk situated just above the beach stretches more or less the entire length of the Gold Coast with lookout platforms positioned strategically along the route. Consider taking a stroll along the boardwalk or hiring a bike for an extended distance. Either way, don’t forget to look out to appreciate the scenery.
