From a Gold Coast Local

13th September 2011

Escape Travel's Sam Locke is a Gold Coast local and has three suggestions of things for you to do on your next visit. This is of course between getting upside down on the roller coasters at Dreamworld, enjoying the quirky family attractions in Surfers Paradise and admiring the waterfalls in the Hinterland...

There is more to the Gold Coast than Surfers Paradise Head south to Snapper Rocks, Rainbow Bay, Coolangatta and Kirra. Known world wide among keen surfers these beaches host ASP events as well as many Sunday afternoon BBQ's with friends and families. The beach BBQ's are free to use, just BYO esky and sausages and you are set for a fabulous relaxing afternoon at the beach.

Go surfing!
You won't look like a local whilst learning to surf in a bright coloured rash vest with a long foam board but you will have a good time! Of course you will also score bragging rights to tell your mates you can surf (they don't need to know you were only up for a few seconds). Seriously good fun!

Wander the markets with an espresso
Grab a coffee from Nook Espresso on Burleigh Point. It's a hole in the wall style set up with what many of us think is the best coffee on the coast. Not to mention it's as good as on the beach so the scenery is equally loveable. Once you've got your coffee stroll over check out the local talent from emerging fashion designers and artists at The Village Markets.

The Gold Coast is ready and waiting to entertain you and help you relax on a warm holiday. Contact an Escape Travel consultant today for more information on holidays or come and have a chat to us on Facebook or Twitter.
