In need of a battery recharge, flop and drop, relaxation, or chillax time? Sherri Pate recently visited Toberua Island Resort in Fiji and says this is a great place for some relaxing time out from the busy world.
As we arrived on the privately owned Toberua Island we knew we were in for an unforgettable holiday. We were greeted by a singing spectacular by the island’s employees.
The island is small and the relationships with the staff were extremely friendly and relaxed. With a total of only fifteen bures (wood and straw huts) on the island the staff got to know our names and treated us like family.
The spa was small but had several indulgent treatments on the menu. All products are locally made Pure Fijian products based on coconut, exotic nut, frangipani and sugarcane essences… mmm delicious!
There is a 9 hole golf course that you can only able to access when the tide is out. It was built in 1985 on a sandbank! It is very unique, and great fun.
The water was so beautifully clear with lots of coral and fish just off the beach. Fijians sure know how to put on a feast! The food was to die for. The after dinner entertainment was singing, cocktails and kava.
It is an all-inclusive island resort and the only business on the island. All water sports, fishing, diving, and a few day trips to the local villages, to meet and visit with the families of the employees are included in the price of your accommodation.
This island is a little off the beaten track but it is worth the trip. It is definitely a relaxation destination as the facilities are limited. I can’t speak highly enough of the hospitality and personalised service. The staff really make you feel at home and wanting to come back.
