South Pacific Cruises
From sun-drenched beaches and azure waters to fjords and snow-capped peaks, a South Pacific cruise poses a wealth of raw discovery. Dotted amongst the spectacular landscapes and laidback shores, traditional seaside villages and cosmopolitan hubs add modern convenience and urban adventures into the mix. Get up close and personal with majestic wildlife or bag bargains in the bustling island markets. From New Zealand to the Cook Islands, it’s all at your fingertips.
The obvious family favourite is to simply relax on the beautiful shores and play in the sun and sea – and there’s a multitude of water sports on offer throughout the South Pacific, including snorkelling. But other fabulous family friendly attractions include zip lining through the jungle in Vanuatu, watching a traditional dance performance in Fiji and meeting wild seals and penguins in New Zealand.
Romance is hard to resist here. For some of the best views on earth, take a helicopter flight over Milford Sound, peer out across an active volcano in the Solomon Islands, or admire local pearls in the shopfront windows of the Cook Islands. Find peace and seclusion on a gorgeous private beach in French Polynesia, kayak across blue lagoons in Tahiti, or enjoy a fancy dinner out in cute and compact Wellington.
Many of the South Pacific island cities are easy to navigate on foot. Larger centres, like those around New Zealand, offer some public transport options and a wealth of taxis. It is possible in most places to hire a car too, if you’re looking to explore further afield. A guided tour is a fabulous way to get and about with the help of a knowledgeable local guide.
An absolute must-do in these pristine waters is snorkelling. While the more experienced may prefer to dive, either way you’ll discover a whole new world of colourful corals and incredible marine life beneath the water’s surface. Fiji is known as the soft coral capital of the world, and New Caledonia boasts beautiful reefs just meters from the shore.
