Massachusetts Information

Massachusetts state is part of the New England region located to the North of New York. It is has a rich and deep history being one of the oldest states of the USA and also the centre of events that lead to the independence of Britain. The capital of Massachusetts is Boston and the population of the densely populated state is around 6.5 million people.

Massachusetts is seemingly famous for an impossible list of historic events and places including being the home of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard business school in Cambridge, Salem of the infamous witch trials and the outlying islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. Plymouth is a name known throughout all American history buffs as the landing place of the Pilgrims in the Mayflower and for being the origins of the thanksgiving ceremony and holiday.

Getting around Massachusetts is easy as it has a very comprehensive network of roads, highways, bus and train routes. There are also a number of large national parks and forests amongst the rolling hills to the west where hikers can enjoy the fresh outdoors along the many walking and biking trails.

Being a northern state the climate can become very cold in winter whilst still enjoying a relatively warm and humid summer. September and October can be ideal times to visit as it is normally a little quieter, the days are crisp and clear and the trees start taking on their spectacular autumn colours.
