Maya Bay Information

Maya Bay is a truly stunning beach located on Phi Phi Island. It was the primary filming location for the movie "The Beach" and it is not hard to see why it was chosen. The bay has several beaches and the whole bay is surrounded by dramitic cliffs that rise up out of the clear waters. The main stretch of beach is around 200 metres of white sand leading down to the turquoise water.

The surrounding cliffs give rise to spectacular and unusual rock formations, particularly on the lower parts that have been carved by the sea. Lush green vegetation tops many of the cliffs making for a very spectacular place to enjoy a swim.

The beach is very popular and there are usually many tourists and the accompanying boats that ferry them to and from the beach. To avoid the crowds it is a good idea to arrive early or late.
