Koh Yao Information

The two islands of Koh Yao are a quiet paradise located between Phuket and the Krabi mainland, in the middle of Phang Nga Bay. This is where a true relaxing holiday can be experienced: away from the crowds, Koh Yao offers you the chance to retreat back to a bygone time, experiencing a rural Thailand.

Koh Yao Yai is the larger of the two islands, however not quite ready to support tourism. Koh Yao Noi however, is ready and waiting for you!

Although a step back in time, with original island traditions still firmly in place and the absence of many modern facilities, there is plenty to keep you occupied on Koh Yao Noi. Go kayaking into hidden caves or across a bay to other small islands, hike or scale cliff faces and wander down rubber tree-lined villages, admiring buildings dripping with flower-filled baskets. Go swimming, snorkelling and diving - discover red and blue corals and a wide range of marine life. On the west coast, pay a visit to the unique hot spring, renowned for its healing properties.

Resorts here are well designed and classy, and there is a small village with banking facilities and a few eateries. Above all, this is a place to enjoy the serenity - traffic is minimal and there's not a lot in the way of nightlife other than a few small bars and the nightlife at your resort. With its basic simplicity, this truly is the great Thailand escape.
