Koh Surin Information

A stunning archipelago of 5 islands approximately 55 kilometres from Thailand’s Phang Nga province, the Koh Surin National Park is one of the country’s best island destinations. Koh Surin Nuea and Koh Surin Tai form the bulk of the archipelago, with the three smaller islands of Koh Ree, Koh Khai, and Koh Klang forming the rest.

Expect crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and pockets of lush green forest –the islands are a truly magnificent spot. Below the waters are a rich coral reef ecosystem and a diverse range of marine life. World-class diving sites can be found around the archipelago, including Richelieu Rock, where divers frequently report whale sharks, sea turtles, and other exotic creatures.

The Moken people (or ‘Sea Gypsies’) have lived in the area for thousands of years. A nomadic people, they inhabit islands from Burma down to Thailand’s Andaman Coast. Visits to local communities are permitted, and offer insight into the Moken people’s traditional culture.

Koh Surin National Park is closed in the wet season between April and November, but can be accessed in the warmer months from the Kuraburi pier in Phang Nga province, where tourists can choose between a slow ferry and a speed boat.
