Seville has accumulated a spectacular array of landmarks over its two-thousand year history, and the city’s architecture gives as good an account of its past as any textbook. Roman, Mudéjar, and Baroque structures populate the skyline, and the Real Alcázar Palace and Cathedral of Seville are always favourites. Both were originally Moorish structures but were modified (or in the case of the cathedral, which was once a mosque, all but destroyed) to suit Spanish tastes after Seville was recaptured by Spanish forces in the thirteenth century. But even though the landmarks take the cake, the city as a whole, from the quaint old Jewish Quarter to the brand new Metropol Parasol is an architectural marvel. 

And while sightseeing and shopping are bound to take up plenty of time, no trip to Seville could possibly be complete without an evening or two out on the town. Seville is well known as the birthplace of Tapas, so visit a few restaurants or bars and get eating! Anyone looking for a proper party later on will be right at home, the Spanish love a good night out and often go well into the morning. Don’t expect to get home until the sun is shining!
