Falelolo International Airport is located 35 kilometres from Apia on the island of Upolu. The airport is serviced by several airlines, mainly from Australia and New Zealand. These include Virgin Blue, with Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue, Air New Zealand, Air Pacific, Polynesian Airlines as well as some inter-island airlines.

The main mode of travel around the islands is by car. There are many rental car companies that operate from the main town of Apia and have a variety of cars available. Visitors wishing to drive on the island will need to have their drivers licenses validated before venturing out. This can be done at the Ministry of Works Transport & Infrastructure in Apia. There are also a number of buses that travel around the island. There is no set timetable and there are no bus stops so if you want to hop on a bus, just flag it down.

There is a ferry service that operates between Upolu and Savaii, it carries both vehicles and passengers. At the Apia end of the journey the ferry leaves from Mulifanua Wharf and operates out of Salelologa Wharf on the Savaii end. The Mulifanua Wharf is about 45 minutes from Apia so be sure to leave enough time to travel there. The trip takes about an hour each way. Sailing times vary so check with your hotel for departure times.
