Cabo San Lucas Information

Cabo San Lucas, or Los Cabos as it is commonly known, is situated at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula in north eastern Mexico. The sparkling warm waters, lovely beaches, beautiful scenery and warm climate have attracted tourism development in the area and it is now a major tourism centre for Mexico, complete with it's own international airport and a number of large resort developments.

Thankfully, the natural beauty of the area that attracted the development in the first place is still very much intact. Rocky hills provide a fascinating and beautiful backdrop to sandy beaches fringed by aqua water. Around the coastline in the area are numerous beautiful inlets and coves inhabited not only by yachts but also an abundance of marine life. This is the meeting point of the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of California and the warm waters and local currents are home to a thriving marine population of fish, crustaceans and mammals. The area is famous as a place to witness the courtship and mating rituals of the Gray Whale, and some may also be lucky enough to witness the birth of one of these great sea giants.

The amazing landscape and coastline is serviced by every tourist facility anyone could reasonably want. Championship golf courses hug the coastline and probe into the cactus clad landscapes beyond. The restaurants range from the simple and traditional beachside mexican palapas to silver service, a la carte affairs that would not be out of place on the finest avenues of Paris. Similarly the range of accommodation on offer goes from simple and cheerful to 5 star luxury.

There are plenty of opportunities to get away from it all as well. Well maintained roads allow the traveller with itchy feet to escape the crowds and take in the vast open spaces and clear skies just a stones throw away.
