Located on the beautiful island of Mykonos, Mykonos Town seems to have sprung from the idyllic harbour and crept gently up the rolling hills to cover the landscape like a blossoming white flower. Consisting of narrow cobble-stoned laneways and glistening whitewashed buildings the charm of this laid back capital of Mykonos is undeniable.

Mykonos has played an important role in Greek mythology and was said to be the site of a titanic battle between the Titans and Zeus, the King of the Gods. Prior to a boom in tourism in the 1950s Mykonos was a very poor, almost subsistence level settlement. With travel becoming more affordable and the establishment of the tourism industry on the island the economy now depends strongly on cruise ships and visitors.

The labyrinth-like streets of Mykonos are all pedestrian and the whitewashed buildings dazzle in the bright sunshine and are usually overflowing with brilliant bougainvillea. There are quaint shops, restaurants and cafes scattered along the narrow alley ways and the harbour is usually filled with traditional fishing boats moored side by side with multimillion dollar yachts. Take a refreshing swim in the warm, crystal clear Mediterranean waters and you'll see why this is such a popular tourist destination.
