Nadi Information

Nadi is Fiji's third largest city with a population of around 40,000. It can be found on the north west of Viti Levu, the opposite side of the main island to the capital Suva.

Fiji's international airport is located close by and is the main entry point for most of the tourists visiting Fiji, although for most Nadi is not the final destination but rather a point of transit to other Fiji locations. The airport is serviced by Air Pacific, Air New Zealand, Pacific Blue, Korean Air and some smaller airlines as well.

Nadi caters for the tourist trade with many hotels, bars, restaurants and duty free shopping. It is also a major hub for ferries to Fiji's western islands which are popular with holiday makers.

Nadi has a large Indo-Fijian population and is a centre for the dominant religions of Hindu and Islam. The largest hindu temple in the pacific, Sri Siva Subramaniya temple can be found here and is well worth a visit.

Other noteworthy attractions in Nadi include Wailoaloa beach on the north of the city, it almost a kilomtere long home to beach clubs and resorts. Newtown beach is about a 10 minute bus ride away from town and is also open to the public. The Waqadra Botanical Gardens are located in Nadi and the remarkable Sleeping Giant Gardens, owned by the actor Raymond Burr and housing his magnificnet orchard collection.
