Egypt is an amazing country with a rich cultural heritage that attracts visitors from all across the globe.
Egypt tours are a convenient, hassle-free way to see all of the spectacular sights as your transport and accommodation needs are all taken care of.
If you are a first time visitor to Egypt, hop aboard a tour that will take you to the heart of this marvellous country, to places like Cairo, Giza, Luxor and the Nile River. Most
Egypt tours start in Cairo, the bustling Egyptian capital where you will find everything from markets, souks and malls to museums and galleries, fabulous dining and more. The Egyptian Antiquities Museum is a definite highlight as it is home to the largest collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts in the world, like the treasures from Tutankhamen’s tomb.
Cairo is a diverse city divided into two distinct territories – Coptic Cairo and Islamic Cairo with Coptic Cairo the oldest. It is worthwhile catching a tour that travels to both sections as they are as equally fascinating as each other. Egypt’s oldest synagogue – the Ben Ezra Synagogue is located in Coptic Cairo along with the Hanging Church. Believed to be constructed as far back as the 4th and 5th centuries, this famous church was built on the ruins of two towers from the ancient Babylon Fort.
Islamic Cairo boasts many mosques of great spiritual and architectural significance. Visit the Mosque of Amr Ibn El-Asas –the oldest mosque in Egypt and the Mosque of Mohamed Ali famous renowned for its Alabaster stone.
The main highlight of all Egypt tours is always the Pyramids of Giza. The Great Pyramid is the oldest and largest of the three and is the only one of the seven wonders of the ancient world still intact. The Great Sphinx is indeed a glorious sight to behold and a major drawcard for tourists to Egypt.
Luxor is also an important stop for many Egypt tours with plenty to see and do here. Luxor is regarded by some as the ‘world’s greatest open air museum’ as the ruins of the Luxor temple founded in 1400 BC and the Karnak Temple are located here. The markets are located to the south of the Luxor temple, the souks and street markets where the locals shop are situated in the north and the modern shopping malls or bazaars are near the train station.
A Nile River Cruise is an excellent way to see the antiquities located along this ancient life source and you can do it in complete luxury or take a more traditional means. If you prefer the modern comforts a’ Nile Cruiser’ is for you. These are best described as floating hotels, with all the features of a land based hotel like swimming pools, restaurants, nightclubs and shops.
However, if you desire a simpler means of transport, you can hop aboard a felucca, often these trips are shorter but bigger feluccas can be arranged for longer cruises if desired. The facilities are more primitive, passengers sleeping on the open decks and sailors doubling as cooks.
