Walking holidays

To really experience the culture of the local country, you can't beat walking holidays.

Walking through Nepal on the Annapurna Circuit is one of the most popular walking holidays in the world. Explore craggy mountain passes, travel through wonderful valleys and past ancient Buddhist monasteries. Trekking to the base camp of Mount Everest is another popular destination as part of walking holiday packages.

For closer mountain walking holidays, then the Routeburn Track on New Zealand's South Island takes you deep into Lord of the Rings territory. You can also extend your trek to take in Milford Sound's fjords, mirror-like lakes and towering forests.

The USA is also home to many fantastic walking holidays. Create cheap holidays by walking the Grand Canyon or one of the many national parks such as Yosemite. Accommodation is usually found at the entry to the parks.

In Europe you can take a walking holiday through the Alps featured in the Sound of Music.

One of the most famous walking holidays and most memorable vacations is through the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru. Dawn over Machu Picchu is a sight not to be missed.
