Australian Ski Holidays
Despite its typically balmy weather, Australia has an array of ski resorts worth escaping to in the snow season. From beginner slopes to experienced runs, there are plenty of snowy mountains perfect for skiing throughout Victoria, New South Wales and Canberra. Many of Australia’s ski resorts will cater particularly to families with beginner runs, children’s lessons, kid’s play areas and even child care facilities. Take the family on a skiing holiday for the opportunity to enjoy this winter sport together.
Perisher is located in the beautiful Kosciuszko National Park in New South Wales and is the largest ski resort in Australasia. Carefully catering to families, the resort has special kids and teens programs and even a day care for little ones. Perisher is also home to Tube Town where kids can enjoy zooming down the slopes on giant inflatable tyres. Falls Creek in Victoria is another great resort for families with a number of beginner runs. Onsite there is a unique theme park style facility where the kids can learn to ski or snowboard from professional instructors.
For those who consider themselves intermediate or even experienced skiers, try Mt Hotham in Victoria. You’ll find slopes for all abilities but those up for a challenge will especially enjoy the advanced terrain. Kids can learn to ski at Mt Hotham’s Kids Snowzone and young ones will be fully supervised at the Hotham Daycare. Just three hours drive from Melbourne is Mt Buller with three hundred hectares of skiable terrain. Kids will love the toboggan parks and little ones can spend time at the Buller Kids Centre.
