Know Before You Go
Before you set sail on your cruise there are a few things you may need to know, depending on your destination. While the itinerary, meals and transport may be organised for you, there are still a few things you will need to prepare before it's 'bon voyage' time.
Passport
Much like flying to a new country when disembarking at a foreign port for a day you will need to present your passport. Before you leave home, double check that everyone in your clan has packed their passport and make sure they are still valid. Some countries will require your passport to have six months validity left on it.
Travel Insurance
A visit to a doctor or receiving hospital treatment overseas can be very expensive, potentially costing more than your entire holiday. Make you have adequate travel insurance. It may be an extra expense that you never end up using but at least you can enjoy your cruise with peace of mind.

Clothing
Take into consideration the destinations your cruise will visit in relation to your clothing choices. Do your research and ensure you have clothes that will be culturally acceptable for every location. Also most cruise ships have a dress code, so find out what your cruise line advises and make sure you pack accordingly.
Visas
In some countries you will be required to have a visa in order to disembark the ship when at port. Without the right travel documents you won’t be permitted to disembark, so make sure you arrange any necessary visas before you set sail.
Vaccinations
Countries such as Africa, Latin America or Asia may require you to have some vaccinations before you go. Make sure you visit your doctor several weeks before your cruise as some vaccinations need to be taken well in advance.
